Dear Prospective Families and Visitors,
Thank you for your interest in Tempe Preparatory Academy, the only open enrollment public high school ranked in Arizona’s Top 10 for two consecutive years (Arizona department of Education Report Card 2013). Tempe Preparatory Academy (Grades sixth through twelfth) is a free, state-chartered public school with a mission to educate students for the lifelong pursuit of truth, beauty and goodness through a rigorous liberal arts curriculum of honors level courses, small class sizes of 23 students, and a 13:1 student faculty ratio.
Providing an education that is generally available only at the most prestigious and expensive high schools in the country, Tempe Prep students participate actively in classes through a Socratic style of instruction to explore many of the greatest works of Western Civilization. We study the liberal arts of grammar and rhetoric, logic and mathematics, history, natural science, and philosophy, along with the fine arts of music, drawing, painting, and drama. This creates an environment of enrichment, depth of inquiry and curiosity.
Tempe Prep parents are actively involved in many aspects of our school and contribute significantly to the success of our students. We hope that you will be anxious to become a part of the impressive parent involvement that is vital to the effectiveness of our school. If you are looking for a school that offers a rigorous curriculum, small class sizes, safety, uniforms, athletics/activities, and most of all, a setting where students are continuously engaging in the learning process, then you have found your educational home at Tempe Preparatory Academy and we look forward to receiving your application.

APPLY TO TEMPE PREPARATORY ACADEMY
Under the state’s sibling policy for affiliated charter schools, siblings of current Tempe Preparatory Academy students receive priority enrollment.
Registration Information for Tempe Preparatory Academy (Grades 6-12)
All eligible applications received for grade 6 during the open enrollment period participate in a lottery run in our January Board of Director’s meeting. During open enrollment, applications received for grades 7 through 11 are placed in the lottery run in January in our Registrar’s office for placement on the established waiting list from the year(s) prior. Notification of placement on the wait list for grades 7-11 will be sent to applicants by Jan. 15th.
Students applying for grades 10-12 are reviewed on an individual basis. Due to Tempe Preparatory Academy’s specific guidelines for graduation, acceptance into 10th, 11th or 12th grade is determined after reviewing current high school transcripts. All applicants must submit an unofficial transcript with the completed application for review.
Tempe Preparatory Academy does not process incomplete applications. Completion of the application does not guarantee enrollment into Tempe Preparatory Academy. Most grades have a waiting list and we must review space availability before we can offer enrollment to applicants.

- Mail: Tempe Preparatory Academy, Registration Office, 1251 E. Southern Avenue, Tempe, AZ 85282
Warning: Once an applicant starts the online application process, he or she cannot save and come back later to complete the application.
The Wait List
TPA draws from the waiting list throughout the year as openings become available. The waiting list rolls from year to year.
For example, an applicant placed on the waiting list for seventh grade would not need to go through the lottery process again for eighth grade. The applicant would maintain his or her position. New applicants fall behind previous wait-listed applicants.
An application received after March 15 is placed at the bottom of the wait list in the order in which it is received.
